Dry point etching using Chine Colle. The coloured rice papers used in the Chine Colle were created with a Gelli plate. This Buff-tip Moth plate has been used in my larger collaged works on linen, but this series of prints were created specifically for The Open Print Exchange. The Buff-tip moth lays its eggs on Silver birch trees for their caterpillars to feast on the leaves. My work often explores ecosystems and the connectivity of our natural world. The Gelli printed leaves of the silver birch have tell tale signs of munching and this inspired the addition of the moth to these works. They can be seen on my website and Instagram, but they are not all obvious, so you will need to search for them, life imitates nature as the Buff-tip is very well camouflaged as a thing when at rest. These prints are presented wings fully out like a specimen from an entomology collection, another recurring theme in my work. https://www.jadetaylorstudio.com/collaged-works
