I wanted to contribute a piece that represented my own part of the world. Some of my favorite places here are the coastal redwood forests in the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains. There, if you are lucky, you can spot bright yellow banana slugs in amongst the fallen redwood branches on the forest floor.
