I am happy to submit my contribution to OPP for the third year. I find it fascinating that people all over the world connect with each other through the use of the mini press from Cologne. The prints received from the past 2 years are displayed in my hallway. Many guests are watching with interest and are enjoying themselves.
My entry for this year started with a mind map about the global exchange of miniature art. Many entries flew past each other by post. This inspired me and translated into folded birds ("carrier pigeons" postduif in Dutch) made out of paper that fly around the earth and past the moon. To create it, I printed a negative moon on a transparent sheet with cut-out silhouettes of the birds glued onto it. On a single sunny day in January I blueprinted (cyanotype) this scene. Next, I scratched the folden birds on round plexiglass (drypoint) and printed them onto the blueprinted moon with white bird silhouettes. The airmail details were added with coloured pencil. I hope you enjoy it.
