For years now I use hexagons cut from the patterns inside envelopes. These can suggest a cube, or boxes. I also like the idea of the optical falling or tumbling that these images suggest. I first made my Open Press prints as etchings on Arches with chine colle, but had trouble getting colle uniformity in the batch. Multiple tries later, I simplified—this (sent) version continues my original intent of patterned boxes tumbling , but is now a simpler red-inked relief print version.
