My piece “For Eugene” is in honor of my grandfather who died in 2020. My grandpa was one of my favorite people and he would travel all the time to all sorts of cool places. He worked as a plant manager for Thermodisc managing plants in different countries. One plant he helped manage was in Mexico. When I was little he would travel a bunch to Mexico and tell me all these stories about scorpions. He brought me back a scorpion encased in glass and I thought it was awesome. I took it in to my pre-school show and tell and told kids that scorpions lived in bathrooms and they could kill you. There were several bathroom accidents that day….whoops. Entwined with the scorpion are transparent pink roses as well as a gray rose for my grandmother Mary Rita. My grandfather was also a very talented gardener and had beautiful pink roses he grew in front of the house. The gray rose is a transparent gray of the block I made in honor of my grandmother for last year’s print exchange. My grandparents were married for over 50 years. Follow more of my work on my insta! Thanks for letting me share!
