Hanasaku (flower blooming) is part of my Higeki project series, which derives its meaning from the idea of a beautiful tragedy. In Hanakotoba (language of flowers), white would usually relate to purity. However, in the process of a spider lily’s life, as the flower blooms, the leaves around it die, and vice versa. There must be a reason why things are deemed “beautiful”, and the price of that beauty may be wilting away it’s host.
