Photo plate digital lithography. And chine-colé. Processed the same way on this press as on a bigger scale. Based on a photo i took of a trip to Egypt. This moment is the Ashraf bay mosque. It displays their knowledge of geometry and is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture and the care and detail that went into their craft.
My work always reminds us of the pride once had and the neglect and oversight we have today.
The importance humans give to the wrong thing in general.
This, while describing peaceful landscapes of deteriorating wonders. It creates an ephemeral world where past and present merge and fade into each other. Because these monuments are represented in their present state of decay but with the aesthetics and grandeur of their past. It makes the viewer feel like a voyeur or an intruder, and bringing an uneasy feeling as humans are inevitably responsible for the deterioration of their own homes and consequently their own history.
